How To Stay Connected During COVID-19

It can be easy to feel isolated and lonely during this unprecedented time in the world, and it’s important that you remain socially connected to your friends and family. When you consistently stay in touch with your loved ones, you feel happier, experience an overall sense of purpose and can even live a longer life. As beneficial as staying connected to your loved ones is the challenge is doing so when you’re concerned about your health and trying to follow social distancing recommendations.

Fortunately, there are many ways you can stay connected with friends and family while still staying safe. For instance, you could:

  • Use technology to connect with friends and family. Programs like Zoom and FaceTime are easy to install and use.
  • Call a loved one on the phone regularly
  • Exercise with a friend at a safe distance
  • Join an online discussion group or book club
  • Participate in group activities that practice social distancing, or
  • Start conversations with neighbors at a safe distance

Keep reading to learn about all of the ways you can stay safe and connected to your loved ones when you’re a part of Episcopal Seniorlife Communities.

Ways Episcopal SeniorLife Communities Helps You Stay Connected

  • We are doing our best to help our residents stay connected to each other and to their loved ones. Video chats – You can virtually visit with your family members from the comfort of your own room and stay connected while also staying at a safe distance. At Episcopal SeniorLife Communities, we help residents use Google Duo to connect with their loved ones.
  • In-person visits – The Department of Health has recently opened up in-person visitation for skilled nursing and assisted living communities. We are happy to offer this option for loved ones to stay connected, under specific guidelines.
  • Health and wellness programs – Our Neighborhood Programs have gone virtual, residents and members can part in our virtual health and wellness, programs as well as take part in discussion groups and educational sessions. This forma has expanded social networks of participants because they are not program or building specific – a great unanticipated benefit of moving online.
  • Small group activities (under 10) – These small group activities allow you to stay connected with fellow residents while adhering to safety precautions and guidelines recommended by the CDC.
  • Spiritual visits, prayer groups and access to virtual services – These are all provided to you right here at Episcopal SeniorLife Communities. These spiritual services give you a chance to connect with your faith and with those around you with the same spiritual beliefs.
