As Episcopal SeniorLife Communities continues to create opportunities that meet the needs of older adults in our area, we rely on your support to make it possible. Your generosity helps ensure that essential services and programs remain affordable and accessible to all who benefit from them.

A shining example of what philanthropy makes possible is Ellen’s Place in Irondequoit, our newest active adult community. This year, we celebrated its first anniversary, marking not only the success of the building opening but the creation of a true community made possible through generosity and support.

At Ellen’s Place, you’ll find residents gathering, celebrating and helping one another. At the forefront is Michael Reed, who is always finding ways to lend a hand. He waters the plants, sets up the weekly cornhole game, drives neighbors to appointments and always makes time to brighten someone’s day. Perhaps most impressively, Mike signs up for every grocery trip, riding the bus to help fellow residents fill their carts and carry bags home, even though he has his own car. It’s no surprise that ten of his neighbors nominated him for Episcopal SeniorLife Communities’ Good Neighbor Award, which honors an ESLC Resident who volunteers their time and talents to make the community a better place. Mike is known for his smile, his kind words and his willingness to help—no matter the day or the task. One neighbor described him best: “He has made Ellen’s Place a real home where we feel like a family.”

That spirit of neighborliness is at the heart of Episcopal SeniorLife Communities, and we are leading the way in shifting from a traditional medical model of senior care to a social model—offering a variety of affordable and accessible housing, programs and services that prioritize connection, purpose and well-being.

We invite you to join Mike Reed in celebrating community. When you donate to ESLC Your donation directly enriches the daily life of residents and community program members and allows ESLC to expand innovative programs ensuring more older adults—like Mike and his neighbors—have the chance to thrive in a place they’re proud to call home.

Thank you for your generosity and for believing in our vision.
