My Sister’s Gallery Presents: “Captured Numens” Object, Place and Time by Scott A. Nost

“I’m an oil painter from the Genesee Valley and Finger Lakes region of western New York state. A lifetime of fresh-air adventures, exploring the world around me, draws me back to capture places of my youth before they are lost to time and progress. Familiar settings and memories act as jumping off points as I explore the places and history of my known universe deeper and farther. I use my paints and pigments to capture and share these numinous places, objects, and experiences for others. My first attempt at painting outside on location, was a three-hour, unmitigated disaster. But 15 minutes into it I was hooked – and I’ve been on a Plein Air adventure ever since. Today, I’m now a Signature Artist with the Rochester Art Club (RAC) and active member of the Off-Color Painters, GVPAP (Genesee Valley), and GRPAP (Greater Rochester) plein air painting associations. When forced back into the studio, I’m drawn to paint subjects – my Dad’s model trains, or my grandmother’s serving platters – with a rich history too. It’s this shared history of the places and objects I aim to capture and share.” – Scott A. Nost

This show will be open from January 20th – March 2nd, 2025 and is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
